How I work… Essential Oils are a powerful tool that can support various issues from serious illness, to the common cold. They can help stressful feelings in daily life and ease nasty skin conditions as well as being a gorgeous ingredient in nurturing skin care products.

If you’ve ever inhaled the essential oil from the Eucalyptus tree, then you will have experienced the very obvious, immediate clearing effect it has on your entire respiratory system, from the moment you sense it at the tip of your nose, right down into the depths of your lungs.  So, do not underestimate the effects a simple scent can have on the way you feel physically and mentally.

As well as sharing many of the amazing properties of essential oils and the practical ways you can use them I always highlight the importance of ‘You’ in the equation and the huge difference the way you are can make to the outcome.

Esoteric Healing Eye Pillow

For example, there is likely to be a noticeable difference in the way you and your body respond  if you were to (a) slap a bit of oil onto a sore knee each morning, if you remember, before dashing out the door & legging it for a bus or (b) come home, set a comfortable place up on the sofa, support your knee with a cushion and gently massage the oil around your knee for 5 minutes,  perhaps taking a moment to warm the oil before application and maybe even using a blanket to cover yourself so you can rest a while afterwards.

Hopefully you catch my drift, but it’s not necessarily about having lots of time to do these things, as the oils are very versatile, and as with the Eucalyptus effects noted above, they can be very quick to make a difference to the way you feel- just a dot on your chest can help you breath more easily.

I like to keep things simple and clear, and I always like to make sure advice I give to clients is useful to them  personally.  I find taking a bath a gorgeous way to enjoy the oils, you may not particularly like baths, or you may not have a bath, so then there is another way we can find for you to enjoy them… be it in a face cream, or a blend for a burner.

This is what I really love to share – that the oils are a tools for you to use to bring a little extra care, fun and nurture to your life and potentially great healing. There are many ways to do this, but the choice to really respect and appreciate how special you are comes from you.  You could bring just as much support and healing to yourself in the way you eat or cook, or the way you exercise or move your body.  Using essential oils is just another way of getting to know yourself and what works for you, wether it be a bespoke perfume blend to enjoy or a cream to fight a fungal toe nail infection.

  1. I have just attended one of Laura’s workshops where we made our own perfumes (2) using her essential oils with the support of her wealth of knowledge on the oil’s properties and the best way to blend the oils we individually chose to make up. It was such a beautiful morning, Laura is a great facilitator allowing us to be led to make our own choices entirely – all the perfumes we made were so unique to each individual person – no doubt responding to our particular needs at the time. I came away with two beautiful perfume blends and a great respect for Laura’s knowledge and her gentle presence.
    Thankyou Laura.

    1. Hi Claire, these are available on request, I have not yet been able to upload them to the website but intend to at some point, and also to add them to the ‘Dropsmith’ tool which shows the chemistry for the actual batch and allows you to blend with these intricate details https://dropsmith.com – so please let me know what essential oils you need paperwork for and I’ll will email them over.

  2. Thank you Laura for the gorgeous oil you created for my daughter to apply and use in her bath during her pregnancy. Baby due in 10 days time now and she is still loving it every day. Rachel loved how beautifully wrapped and the gentle colours when she unwrapped it. Next order post natal suggestions.

    1. Thanks for the feedback Judy, so glad it’s been loved. She can continue to use the blend after the birth, it will still be really supportive, but do let me know if there is anything specific I can help with.

  3. I’ve just attended one of Laura’s amazing Botanical Alchemy weekends at Upper Vobster farm in Somerset, and had a brilliant time. We had Heather cooking for us and the food was divine. We made perfumes, soaps, creams and balms, and I made some nerve soothing cream for a client of mine. She loved it and it really helped to reduce her pain during the treatment. She’s taken to home to use herself, thank you Laura!

  4. I attended the soap making workshop which was thoroughly inspiring and got the creative juices flowing. Everyone had the opportunity to do all aspects of soap making and I now feel confident enough to have a go myself at home.

    1. Hi Lynn, thanks for your interest. I am due to return to the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow soon and am starting to look at dates for this Autumn, possibly late September early October, do you have a preference? There are a few others interested so I would like to make it work for you all…
